What Frightened Felix? 

Judges 5 - "Thus let all Your enemies perish, O LORD; But let those who love Him be like the rising of the sun in its might."

Matthew 13:24-43 - "The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness, and will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

Nehemiah 6:1-16 - When all our enemies heard of it, and all the nations surrounding us saw it, they lost their confidence; for they recognized that this work had been accomplished with the help of our God.

Acts 24 - But as he was discussing righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix became frightened and said, "Go away for the present, and when I find time I will summon you."

Judges 4 - "I will surely go with you; nevertheless, the honor shall not be yours on the journey that you are about to take, for the LORD will sell Sisera into the hands of a woman."

Nehemiah 4:12-23 - "Do not be afraid of them; remember the Lord who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives and your houses."

Acts 21:37-22:29 - "Brethren and fathers, hear my defense which I now offer to you."

Judges 3:1-11 - They were for testing Israel, to find out if they would obey the commandments of the LORD, which He had commanded their fathers through Moses.

Matthew 12:22–37 - "But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment. "

Nehemiah 4:1-11 - All of them conspired together to come and fight against Jerusalem and to cause a disturbance in it.

Acts 21:17-36 - Then Paul took the men, and the next day, purifying himself along with them, went into the temple giving notice of the completion of the days of purification, until the sacrifice was offered for each one of them.

To Die For 

Judges 2:8-23 - Wherever they went, the hand of the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had spoken and as the LORD had sworn to them, so that they were severely distressed. Then the LORD raised up judges who delivered them from the hands of those who plundered them.

Matthew 12:1-21 - "What man is there among you who has a sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will he not take hold of it and lift it out? How much more valuable then is a man than a sheep!"

Nehemiah 2
- Then the king said to me, "What would you request?" So I prayed to the God of heaven.
I said to the king, "If it please the king, and if your servant has found favor before you, send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers' tombs, that I may rebuild it."

Acts 21:1-16 - ...we as well as the local residents began begging him not to go up to Jerusalem. Then Paul answered, "What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but even to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus."

Matthew 11:20-30 - "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles had occurred in Tyre and Sidon which occurred in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes."

Nehemiah 1 - "...let Your ear now be attentive and Your eyes open to hear the prayer of Your servant which I am praying before You now, day and night, on behalf of the sons of Israel Your servants, confessing the sins of the sons of Israel which we have sinned against You; I and my father's house have sinned."

1 Corinthians 13 - Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered,does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Genesis 18:1-10, 16-19 - "Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do, since Abraham will surely become a great and mighty nation, and in him all the nations of the earth will be blessed?"

Ezra 4:7-23 - ...the Jews who came up from you have come to us at Jerusalem; they are rebuilding the rebellious and evil city.... And you will discover in the record books and learn that that city is a rebellious city and damaging to kings and provinces, and that they have incited revolt within it in past days; therefore that city was laid waste.

City of Refuge 

Joshua 20:1-21:3 - These were the appointed cities for all the sons of Israel and for the stranger who sojourns among them, that whoever kills any person unintentionally may flee there, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood until he stands before the congregation.

Matthew 9:2-17 - "But go and learn what this means: 'I DESIRE COMPASSION, AND NOT SACRIFICE,' for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

Ezra 6:1-12 - "Whatever is needed..., it is to be given to them daily without fail, that they may offer acceptable sacrifices to the God of heaven and pray for the life of the king and his sons."

Acts 16:16-40 - When the jailer awoke and saw the prison doors opened, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped. But Paul cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Do not harm yourself, for we are all here!"

From All Sides 

Joshua 11:1-19, 23 - ...when Jabin king of Hazor heard of it..., he sent to Jobab king of Madon and to the king of Shimron and to the king of Achshaph, and to the kings who were of the north in the hill country, and in the Arabah... to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and the Amorite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Jebusite in the hill country, and the Hivite at the foot of Hermon in the land of Mizpeh. They came out, they and all their armies with them, as many people as the sand that is on the seashore, with very many horses and chariots.

Matthew 8:1-13 - "Truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith with anyone in Israel. I say to you that many will come from east and west, and recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven; but the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.... Go; it shall be done for you as you have believed."

Zechariah 4:1-5:4 - "This is the curse that is going forth over the face of the whole land; surely everyone who steals will be purged away according to the writing on one side, and everyone who swears will be purged away according to the writing on the other side."

Zechariah 3 - Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to accuse him.

Acts 13:13-52 - "Behold, you scoffers, and marvel, and perish; for I am accomplishing a work in your days, a work which you will never believe, though someone should describe it to you."

Matthew 5:33-48 - "Whoever forces you to go one mile, go with him two."

Haggai 2:10-23 - "If a man carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and touches bread with this fold, or cooked food, wine, oil, or any other food, will it become holy?" And the priests answered, "No."

Acts 10 - A voice came to him, "Get up, Peter, kill and eat!" But Peter said, "By no means, Lord, for I have never eaten anything unholy and unclean." Again a voice came to him a second time, "What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy."

Matthew 5:17-32 - ...leave your offering there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother....

Haggai 2:1-9 - "'Who is left among you who saw this temple in its former glory? And how do you see it now? Does it not seem to you like nothing in comparison...? The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,' says the LORD of hosts, 'and in this place I will give peace,' declares the LORD of hosts."

Acts 9:23-43 - ...they were all afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple. But Barnabas took hold of him and brought him to the apostles....

Matthew 5:1-16 - "Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven."

Haggai 1 - Thus says the LORD of hosts, "Consider your ways!"

Acts 9:1-22 - ...he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?"

Acts of the Spirit 

Joshua 3 - ...when those who carried the ark came into the Jordan, and the feet of the priests carrying the ark were dipped in the edge of the water (for the Jordan overflows all its banks all the days of harvest), the waters which were flowing down from above stood and rose up in one heap....

Matthew 4:12-25 - From that time Jesus began to preach and say, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

A simple message, but it raises a few questions:
  1. What were they supposed to repent from?
  2. What's a kingdom of heaven?
  3. What happens when it gets here?
Ezra 4:1-6, 24 - "You have nothing in common with us in building a house to our God; but we ourselves will together build to the LORD God of Israel, as King Cyrus, the king of Persia has commanded us."

Acts 8:14-40 - Then the Spirit said to Philip, "Go up and join this chariot." Philip ran up and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet....

Joshua 2 - "For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites.... When we heard it, our hearts melted and no courage remained in any man any longer because of you; for the LORD your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath. Now therefore, please swear to me by the LORD, since I have dealt kindly with you, that you also will deal kindly with my father's household....

Matthew 4:1-11 - And the tempter came and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread." But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.'"

Ezra 3 - They sang, praising and giving thanks to the LORD, saying, "For He is good, for His lovingkindness is upon Israel forever." And all the people shouted with a great shout when they praised the LORD because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid. Yet many of the priests and Levites and heads of fathers' households, the old men who had seen the first temple, wept with a loud voice....

Acts 7:54-8:12 - Then falling on his knees, he cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them!" Having said this, he fell asleep.

Joshua 1 - "Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go."

Matthew 3 - "I have need to be baptized by You, and do You come to me?"

Ezra 1 - "Whoever there is among you of all His people, may his God be with him! Let him go up to Jerusalem which is in Judah and rebuild the house of the LORD, the God of Israel; He is the God who is in Jerusalem."

Acts 7:1-53 - "David found favor in God's sight, and asked that he might find a dwelling place for the God of Jacob. But it was Solomon who built a house for Him."

Beginning to End 

Genesis 1:1-2:3 - In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.... Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.

John 1:1-18 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.... All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.

Job 38:1-7, 42:1-5 - "Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding, Who set its measurements?"

Revelations 19:5-16 - And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.

Ruin Rebuilt 

Isaiah 61 - ...a garland instead of ashes, The oil of gladness instead of mourning, The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting.

Matthew 28:16-20 - "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you...."

Zechariah 7:1-10 - "Thus has the LORD of hosts said, 'Dispense true justice and practice kindness and compassion each to his brother; and do not oppress the widow or the orphan, the stranger or the poor; and do not devise evil in your hearts against one another.'"

Acts 6 - The word of God kept on spreading; and the number of the disciples continued to increase greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were becoming obedient to the faith.

Covenant Kept 

Jeremiah 33:14-26 - "Thus says the LORD, 'If you can break My covenant for the day and My covenant for the night, so that day and night will not be at their appointed time, then My covenant may also be broken with David My servant so that he will not have a son to reign on his throne....'"

John 20:19-29 - ...Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, "Peace be with you." And when He had said this, He showed them both His hands and His side.

Jeremiah 42:1-12 - "May the LORD be a true and faithful witness against us if we do not act in accordance with the whole message with which the LORD your God will send you to us. Whether it is pleasant or unpleasant, we will listen to the voice of the LORD our God...."

Acts 5:12-42 - But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the gates of the prison, and taking them out he said, "Go, stand and speak to the people in the temple the whole message of this Life."
